What is creativity?

Through learning a new skill, hobby and expressing yourself through creativity

Creativity - whether its learning a new skill, taking up an interest or hobby its finding something that you enjoy to relax, unwind and feel good.

Creative writing, nature, gardening, cooking, photography, pottery, card making, felting, sewing, drawing, doodling, baking, crafting, blogging, music and so much more.

In exposing the myth its more than just drawing and painting?

Creativity - Otherwise known as Art Therapy...........

Self-expression and expression of feelings

  • turning new ideas into reality.

  • look at the world in new ways.

  • find hidden connections.

Creative people tend to demonstrate or possess the following traits:

• Awareness of creativity.

• Imagination.

• Daydreaming.

• Persistence.

• High energy.

• Independence.

• Risk taking.

• Open-mindedness.

Then are you a creative person?

Creativity has to do with new things coming into being and is the opposite of destructive.

How can I be creative?

and many more activities............

Explore your creativity to find wellness and healing. All around the world there is an increasing amount of scientific evidence that proves art enhances the brain function. It has an impact on brain wave patterns and emotions, the nervous system, and can actually raise serotonin levels.

Art therapy and creativity can change a person's outlook and the way they experience the world. Your creations become a way to look into and communicate thoughts and emotions that seem too complex or confusing to articulate by talking alone. Helping reduce pain, enhance relaxation and stimulation of ideas and imagination. Through learning a new skill, hobby and expressing yourself through creativity helps your healing journey.

Recognising your own growth and inner strength Art therapy can give you a voice which you can use to communicate your thoughts and feelings. Through examining the inner self, and the experiences that have shaped you, you have an opportunity to start recognising your strengths.

Self-expression and expression of feelings

Take time out to walk or sit somewhere with nature this is proven to increase creativity and developing new ideas.

Cultivating Creativity

Here are steps for cultivating creativity, that can help you along the way.

Find your own style ......

  • Be open and aware. ...

  • Play and pretend. ...

  • Generate lots of ideas. ...

  • Write a list or capture on paper .....

  • Choose the best ideas. ...

  • Plan time for yourself 10 minutes - an hour?

  • Make something out of your great ideas.

  • Share with others to inspire

Sharing Lessons learned

For me joining an online group or attending an art class, meeting others gaining a social connection - through creating and feedback this can increase your confidence as you learn new skills.

Relax: Take a walk, play a game. If you’re in a creative block, let your mind be free of its normal thoughts.

Give yourself permission to be a beginner.

Completing your creation

We all see different things from our personal perception and taste and sometimes we are our worst critic.

It seems easier to compare our work with others one thing I look to do after each project.......

Remember:

Keep all my work no matter what it looks like (this helps to look back, review and see how much I have improved or learned on my journey)

  • Some things made I will love, others not like as much (this is normal)

  • All artists go through this critical phase

  • We can always learn and improve (Think how you would do things differently next time)

  • Learn from our experiences, new styles and techniques

  • Accept praise and feedback from others

  • There is always something new to learn

  • Relax, have fun and accept things for what they are.

Be true to yourself

Discover your inner style

You are your own worst critic - learn to listen to your positive inner voice not the critic.

My inner voice now says "Let's share the beauty of creativity" and I discovered a way to share through my blogs and various groups.

The benefits of creativity

Let your colours and shapes speak for you

Find your own style

Networking and making friends

Experimenting and trying something new

Creativity can be learned.

It’s just that for some of us, it takes a bit more patience and an extra bit of cleverness about how we choose to think.

If we spend our days staying open to new experiences by doing things like learning something new..........

languages, meeting new people, trying new foods, learning to bake or cook, books and puzzles, taking a walk, looking at nature, talking with others and always aware of alternative viewpoints,

..........then slowly but surely we will change our lives, becoming more creative in the process.

So whether you’re young or you’re old, have put in spent 1,000 hours or none at all, knowing that creativity is a talent that can be learned is the first step to becoming more creative.

There are plenty of other creative efforts you can have a go for your wellness.

Why not get creative while gardening, writing a letter, walking the dog, helping a friend —the possibilities are endless.

Inspire, Escape and be free to do your own thing.
