Then you are not alone.
Whilst I am a great believer in looking out for bargains, offers and deals quality of materials in my experience does matter.
My philosophy is to buy the best you can afford.
Anyone that’s tried to use a cheap materials will know how much paint can be wasted trying to develop the right coverage and texture.
Its about factoring in the true costs of materials think in terms of quality over quantity.
Sharing art materials that have been used by the creative wellness team may give you ideas to get started here
Materials have different qualities: they can be smooth or rough; hard or soft; heavy or light; depending on the effect you are trying to achieve in general artists choose materials because of their particular qualities.
The painting and traditional media I use most often are:
Watercolours, sets and pencils
Pencils, Pen and Ink.
Charcoal and Pastels.
Acrylic Paint.
Felt tip and markers
Fine liners and metallic pens

“When people ask me what my work is about, I can only answer “emotional expression” and "art for wellness".
My paintings and drawings come from my daily life, and are attempts to make sense of the world.
They help me express my wishes and dreams and support my wellbeing using colour and tone to explore my style ….”
