What is Inktober

Inktober was created by Jake Parker in 2009 as a challenge to improve his inking skills and develop positive drawing habits.

It has since grown into a worldwide endeavor with thousands of artists taking on the challenge every year.

Inktober rules:

1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want). 2) Post it* 3) Hashtag it with #inktober and #inktober2021 4) Repeat

Note: you can do it daily, or go the half-marathon route and post every other day, or just do the 5K and post once a week.

What ever you decide, just be consistent with it. Inktober is about growing and improving and forming positive habits, so the more you’re consistent the better.

That's it! Now go make something beautiful.

*Post it on any social media account you want or just post it on your refrigerator. The point is to share your art with someone. :) sourced from https://inktober.com/

Keep it simple

How I joined the Inktober challenge with just...........

  • Paper, pencil and paper plate

  • Inks & Brushes

  • Various pens with different tip sizes

  • Water

After discovering Inktober in the middle of the month and being inspired to join in I wanted to show that you can still create simple art through drawing.

Art for wellness is all about having a go, simplifying your pictures and embracing whatever time you have to be creative.

  1. Think of something you are drawn to by the word

  2. In pencil draw your sketch idea

  3. Adding ink either from pots or pens

  4. Using water to dilute shades and blend in ink colours

Combing prompts for Inktober

by Emma Morrissey

Inktober - has been very popular over the last few years & allows creative people to come together & create ink based pieces of art based on a prompt word, one word for each day of Inktober.

As doing a piece of art each day can be tricky for some people (including me) I decided to get involved by doing at least one prompt per week & decided to include several days' prompts into one piece of artwork, saving both time & allowing for some really interesting pieces of art.

If you would like to learn more about how these were created here are the links to my Inktober2021 YouTube videos:

Day 12/13 LINK Stuck & Roof

Day 15 LINK Helmet

The Inktober project is still ongoing watch out for further updates added by Emma & Debbie.
