An Introduction to Digital Art

Simply put digital art is creating artistic work or photos that uses digital technology as part of the creative or presentation process.

Instead of painting on canvas or paper, digital art allows you to create directly onto a computer, a tablet or using a phone app.

I am a big fan of googling for FREE resources either whether its a app for my phone or an online resource.

That way you can have a play and see if this is a medium you enjoy before looking at investing further.

Here are some of my favourite resources:

CANVA

Canva is an amazing design platform for everyone offering a huge variety of templates and design ideas so you can create your own designs.

The initial FREE account offers:

  • 250,000+ free templates

  • 100+ design types (social media posts, presentations, letters, and more)

  • Hundreds of thousands of free photos and graphics

  • Invite members to your team

  • Collaborate and comment in real-time

  • 5GB of cloud storage

All of my logos have been created in Canva

Prisma Photo Editor

Prisma is a photo editor app that creates amazing photo effects transforming your photos into paintings.

Google Photos App

I use Google Photos as the home for my photos and videos, which is automatically organised and easy to share.

I have also used Glaze App and tried other applications these are just my personal favourites.*

I just use the FREE applications on my phone to change photos like the ones below.

Digital Art as a Creative

Digital Art is designs and pictures that are made with technology or presented on digital technology.

There are many different platforms when you research and can be quite spoilt for choice.

Most of them come with a cost and I do not have any personal recommendations as this is quite a new hobby that seems to be taking off and other members love to have a go.

I suggest you do your own research and see what seems best for your needs.
